SLAM CITY WITH SCOTTIE PIPPEN (Digital Pictures, CD-ROM for PC, $60) Like some NBA players I could name, this first-person, one-on-one dunkfest is long on trash-talk but short on execution. Since the games are cobbled together exclusively from video clips, the action can be hard to follow, and it’s often impossible to relate what’s happening on screen to your frantic joystick thrusts.
Nov 30, 1994 A real interactive movie, not a computer generated game. Perform spectacular live-action moves to the hoop! Go one-on-one with five of the slammin'est hoopsters on the blacktop: Fingers, Juice, Mad Dog, Smash, and Scottie Pippin! Slam City has all the action of real one-on-one basketball.
And here’s the punchline: Slam City is one of the first PC games to minimally require a juiced-up Pentium system. I’m sticking with NBA Jam for the Super NES.
